Rep. Miller Reporting on Energy Policy Planning Committee
Jefferson City — State Representative Rocky Miller of District 124 (Miller and Camden Counties) is happy to find out the Governor has started the process to begin forming an Energy Policy for the State of Missouri, here’s a link to the Governor’s news release http://governor.mo.gov/news/archive/gov-nixon-announces-missourians-named-comprehensive-state-energy-plan-steering. “Energy is a keystone to the continued economic development of the State, therefore having a well thought out Energy Policy is very important. Missouri is one of only eleven states without an Energy Policy, said Rep. Miller.
“I was saddened, but not surprised to find out that this process has begun and it does not involve a single state legislator. I specifically asked the new head of the Division of Energy to garner input from the legislature. I find it odd that the Governor’s office would ignore this wealth of information in statute and policy. I hope that in the future the Governor will utilize the legislature for this important policy, however if the past is any indicator, I doubt it will happen.”
