Senator David Sater Named

“Family Champion of the Year”

JEFFERSON CITY — State Senator David Sater, R-Cassville, has been named “Family Champion of the Year” by the Missouri Family Policy Council for his work in the General Assembly on behalf of Missouri families.

“Senator Sater has been a tremendous advocate for Missouri families and Christian values in the State Capitol,” said Joe Ortwerth, Executive Director of the Missouri Family Policy Council. “We commend his valiant and heartfelt pro-life leadership, and are proud to recognize him as Missouri’s ‘Family Champion’ for 2014.”

Senator Sater sponsored and passed pro-life legislation this year extending the waiting period to get an abortion in Missouri to 72 hours and previously passed legislation to prohibit pharmacies from being required to carry any specific drug, such as the “morning after pill” or other abortifacient drugs. In addition to his efforts on pro-life bills, Sen. Sater has also worked on legislation to enhance education opportunities for foster children, protect children from online predators, and to develop a Child Protection Registry to help parents and families protect their email and phones from unsolicited adult-oriented materials.

“It is truly an honor to receive this award,” said Sen. Sater. “As Missourians, our strong family values are very important to us and we place a high price on working hard, caring for our families and being good neighbors. This is a guiding principle for me as a legislator and, most importantly, as a husband and father. It is a privilege to represent the values and morals of the people of the 29th District and I look forward to continue doing that to the best of my ability.”

The Missouri Family Policy Council is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting family-friendly public policy and Christian values. The Missouri Family Policy Council is one of more than 30 state organizations formally associated with Focus on the Family, the family support ministry founded by Dr. James Dobson.
