Hanaway Statement on Governor Nixon’s State of State Address

St. Louis- Former House Speaker and U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway issued the following statement at the conclusion of Governor Jay Nixon’s State of the State Address.

“Tonight’s State of State address marks Missouri’s seventh year under failed liberal leadership. In his first State of the State address, Governor Nixon cited a declaration he made with the General Assembly for a new day of bipartisanship in Jefferson City. Seven years later, gridlock is worse than ever with the Governor setting modern day records for vetoes rather than working with the General Assembly to pass meaningful economic reforms.  This failed leadership leaves Missouri stuck, ranked 42nd in economic growth and without any real plan to bring quality jobs to Missouri. Missourians will soon have the opportunity to elect a new conservative Governor who will lead the General Assembly and put Missouri on a path to sustained growth and prosperity.”
