#BarklageCup 2015: Round 2 Matchups

Bandwidth by the Barrel

(1) Rosenbaum vs. (9) Calhoun – New school vs. newer school here in the 2nd round. Anything can happen in the #barklagecup and perennial powerhouse Rosenbaum will be challenged by the rising KMOX star.

 (5) Milhaven vs. (13) Charton – Charton pulled off the upset in the first round and is could be set for a Cinderella run if McGraw doesn’t up his game.

 (11) Grace vs. (14) Felts – An intriguing 2nd round match up against two savvy competitors who know their way around a hashtag. Will be one of the most fun campaigns to watch.

 (2) Yokley vs. (10) Payne – Two young bulls of the Missouri political world square off here. Payne fresh off a win in the County Executive’s race, and Yokley fresh off being in pretty much every newspaper in North America will make for a great 2nd round battle.

(1) Dueker vs. (9) Temple  The defending champion Dueker will now face off against the People’s Champion from Puxico.

(4) Mazur vs. (12) Shackelford – The father of Missouri political personalities competing in an online poll Jeff Mazur will be face a top notch competitor in Shackelford fresh off an upset in round 1.

(3) MSK vs. (11) Harris – What fun in the 2nd round business vs. labor, Republican vs. Democrat, Jeff City vs. STL everything you could want in this one.

 (2) Callow vs. (7) Kelly – Two masters of wit this one will be one of the most interesting matchups of the 2nd round with both coming off close wins in round 1. Look for the snark to flow in this contest between two Tishaura Jones admirers.

MissourEE

(1) Mayor Slay vs. (9) Cierpiot – An I-70 battle for the ages with Cierpiot looking to pull off an upset against the Mayor. Word on the street is that Cierpiot may be considering apologizing for ’85 in an attempt to tap into the groundswell of resentment coming from such a heinous attack against all Missourians. Will be interesting to watch.

(4) Diehl vs. (12) Silvey  Looking for a big matchup here of legislative heavy weights. Can the Speaker catch the co-chair of the senate budget committee busy with appropriating or does Silvey rock the Speaker?

(3) Schmitt vs. (11) LaFaver – Here was have the true debate this state has been missing. Liberal vs. conservative, Stl vs. KC, House vs. Senate, KC BBQ vs. the #porksteakrebellion. Schmitt shouldn’t look ahead to the next round as this one is an upset alert.

(10) Dempsey vs. (15) Cornejo – The battle of St. Charles County is on here in the 2nd round. Whoever pulls out this win could have the momentum to be drinking from the #barklagecup in week.

MissourAH

(1) Kinder vs. (9) McGaugh – Can the upset kid continue his run of winning against former legislative leaders by defeating the Lt. Governor? This may be the most competitive 1/9 match up of the entire 2nd round. The #barklagecup would be a great accessory to add to a bolo tie.

(4) Richardson vs. (5) Rowden – A junior vs. sophomore class clash if moving the previous questions counted (which we are hearing may count in the legislative softball game this year) Richardson would be a shoe in, but in the #barklagecup only votes count making this one a toss up.

(6) Jones vs. (14) Dieckhaus – Both coming off big wins in round 1 this will be a very interesting battle between two of the most important people to the house republican caucus.

(2) Koster vs. (7) Haahr – This one is an upset alert. We have seen 2/7 upsets before, but this one would be a huge win for the representative and remember, soothing baritone voices that must carry more than the suburbs to win the #barklagecup.
