Bandwidth by the Barrel

(1) Rosenbaum vs. (13) Charton – Does the fairy tale run for Charton end in the Sweet 16 against Rosenbaum? Now that he runs into his first print opponent, there is little doubt that the Missouri Times spel chek departmant will not be able to withstand this one.

(2) Yokley vs. (11) Grace – Now we see if menu power can overcome the man of many bylines. Grace will have to earn if he advances to the Elite 8.

(1) Dueker vs. (12) Shackelford – This one may literally break the internets. Shackelford has upped her game this year, and if she can convince internet savant and TKG co-worker Braxton Payne to help her,f the champ may be in trouble.

(7) Kelly vs. (11) Harris – How about this match up of opposites. There are literally very few things these two have in common and we are hoping for a high level of snark in this one.

MissourEE

(1) Mayor Slay vs. (4) Diehl – St. Louis City lawyer/public servant vs. West County lawyer/public servant. Isn’t this really the matchup we all circled when the brackets were announced? So many questions surrounding this one: Doesn’t every Speaker profess undying devotion to the Mayor, can Rainford keep both competitors fighting a clean fight, what role with St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger play in this one…?

(3) Schmitt vs. (15) Cornejo – The battle of the north county boys here in the Sweet 16. Schmitt was in Cornejo’s committee this week presenting his SB 5 muni court reform bill, and Cornejo – when he wasn’t chairing committees – was knocking off an iconic senator from his home county. The real loser here could be all Missourians, if this one turns nasty and the house decides to punish Schmitt and all Missourians by raising his caps on parasite speed traps in response. (Can the Commissioner just take a moment here to say, ‘I hate the damn speed traps!’? Thanks, I needed to get that off my chest.) Needless to say this one is fraught with drama.

MissourAH

(1) Kinder vs. (5) Rowden – Classic match up of old school vs. new school. Can the crushing weight of the dean of the Republican Party’s name ID hold off the tech savvy communications wiz?

(7) Haahr vs. (14) Dieckhaus – Dieckhaus has been on a tear, but now one of the members his HRCC helped elect will be squaring off against him fresh off a win against the next Governor of Missouri. We hear that Haahr is reminding everyone who will listen that now that he has defeated Koster, Dieckhaus should pay him a visit, because he does have 8 years of eligibility to serve in the house.
