Gov. Nixon makes available more than $22 million for public education, workforce training and other priorities

JEFFERSON CITY – As a result of continued positive trends in the state’s economy and in state revenues, Gov. Jay Nixon today made available $22,658,262 in funding for public education, workforce training and other priorities in the current fiscal year (Fiscal Year 2015).

“The latest revenue numbers continue to reflect our strong track record of responsible fiscal management,” Gov. Nixon said.  “As many other states struggle with deficits and gridlock, here in Missouri our commitment to fiscal discipline continues to pay dividends for our schools, students and communities across our state.”

Earlier this month, State Budget Director Linda Luebbering announced that 2015 fiscal year-to-date net general revenue collections had increased by 7.5 percent compared to 2014.

  • Missouri Works Job Training – $4,297,007
  • Missouri Technology Corporation programs – $1,300,000
  • Regional Education Professional Development Centers – $1,000,000
  • Math and Science Tutoring Program – $400,000
  • K-12 transportation funding – $5,000,000
  • County reimbursement for prisoner costs – $1,756,552
  • Early Grade Literacy Program – $100,000
  • Sheriff Issuance System Development – $650,000
  • ADA Treatment for Ex-Offenders – $500,000
  • State Health Lab Expenses – $191,400
  • Utilicare Assistance – $4,000,000
  • Local Election Authority Grants – $3,088,303
  • Crowder Community College – Hickey Building on Webb City campus – $375,000
