MALMC kicks off at the Lake

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. – Over 200 labor and utility leaders and activists are at Camden on the Lake this week for the Mid-America Labor/Management Conference.

The conference kicked off with a welcome breakfast this morning featuring Ryan McKenna, Director of Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations and Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander.

Statewide officials continue appearances with Attorney General Chris Koster, who will be speaking at today’s lunch.

The conference includes a variety of workshops and entertainment, featuring labor, utility, and lawmaking leaders. Irl Scissors, Executive Director for a Balanced Energy Future will be moderating a “Power Play” workshop this afternoon featuring utility policy and politics leaders, including Missouri House Utility Infrastructure Committee Chairman Lyndall Fraker and former Public Service Commission Chairman Kevin Gunn.

Tomorrow will include the traveling docket of the Court of Appeals, a golf tournament, and karaoke.

Mark Lawlor, Director of Development, Clean Line Energy Partners, will speak at Wednesday’s breakfast.

The conference’s keynote is Rick Gregory, who will speak Wednesday. Gregory has worked as a labor/management facilitator with dozens of companies and unions. His goal is to help labor and management to better serve together
