Press Release: Reps. Koenig and Franklin to launch Planned Parenthood investigation

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – In response to recent news reports regarding alleged felony actions by Planned Parenthood, state Reps. Andrew Koenig and Diane Franklin will utilize their House committees to investigate the abortion provider. The House Ways and Means Committee, which is chaired by Koenig, and the House Children and Families Committee, which is chaired by Franklin, will coordinate a joint investigation to look into allegations that Planned Parenthood has sold organs from aborted fetuses for profit.

“I am deeply troubled by the recent allegations against Planned Parenthood,” Koenig, R-St. Louis, said. “Our committees will work together to investigate whether similar crimes have taken place here in Missouri, and to determine if our laws need to be strengthened to ensure they do not happen ever again.”

“We need to make absolutely certain that nothing like this is taking place here in our state. As Missourians, we believe in the sanctity of all life, and I am committed to working with Rep. Koenig and the members of our committees to ensure unborn children in Missouri are protected from these alleged crimes,” said Franklin, R-Camdenton.

Franklin and Koenig said the plan to begin their investigation immediately. They will release further details as the investigation progresses.
