Gov. Nixon appoints Associate Circuit Judge Jason Brown as new Circuit Judge for Greene County

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Gov. Jay Nixon today announced the appointment of Associate Circuit Judge Jason R. Brown as Circuit Judge for the 31st Judicial Circuit, which covers Greene County. The position became vacant upon the retirement of the Honorable J. Dan Conklin.

Judge Brown has served as Associate Circuit Judge for the 31st Judicial Circuit since January 2005. In this position, he has presided over a diverse docket of criminal and civil cases. During his time on the bench, he has also served as a volunteer judge for Greene County’s Teen Court program, and has been a member of several judicial committees.

Prior to taking the bench, Judge Brown was in private practice for 16 years, most recently in Springfield and, before that, in the Kansas City area. He has been active as a volunteer in numerous community, charitable, educational and youth sports organizations, including his current service on the board of the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch. Judge Brown obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri and his law degree from Vanderbilt University.

“For the past ten and a half years, Judge Jason Brown has demonstrated his ability to administer justice from the Greene County bench, and I am pleased to elevate him to Circuit Judge to continue to ably serve the people of this circuit,” Gov. Nixon said.

Judge Brown was one of three applicants submitted to the Governor for consideration by the 31st Circuit Judicial Commission under the Missouri Nonpartisan Court Plan.
