Statement of Senator Keaveny regarding recent report

JEFFERSON CITY –

“As a member of the Senate Administration committee, I was one of the five senators that oversaw the initial investigation of the allegations against Senator LeVota.  Since the time that the report of the investigation has been released, numerous new allegations have been made.

“The membership of the Senate Democratic Caucus and I take these allegations very seriously.  Accusations like these should be treated in a manner that is fair and just to both the accused and the accuser.  Everyone deserves to feel safe in their work environment.

“I concur with the other members of senate leadership that the Senate Committee on Rules, Joint Rules, Resolutions and Ethics hold a hearing on these allegations.  In order to ensure fairness in the hearing, I will be removing Senator LeVota from this committee and replacing him with myself.”
