PRESS RELEASE: Former Missouri Television News Anchor Robin Smith Announces Plans To Run For Missouri Secretary of State

(ST. LOUIS, MO) – Lifelong MIssouri resident Robin Smith, a trusted voice for news in St. Louis for over 40 years, has decided to continue to serve the public as a candidate for Missouri Secretary of State in 2016.

As an anchor with CBS affiliate KMOX // KMOV-TV 4 she has provided viewers with award winning reporting, while simultaneously serving the community in important capacities

Smith will be running as a Democrat.

Missouri’s Secretary of State, is the state’s Chief Information & Elections Officer, tasked with informing the public of vital information including investor fraud, securities regulation as well as business services.

The Office of Secretary of State also has the responsibility of protecting the integrity of the state’s election process.

“What Missouri needs now, more than ever, is a public servant who checks their politics at the door.  That has been my life’s work and my training.  I look forward to giving Missourians straightforward, professional service as their Secretary of State.”, said Robin Smith in announcing she’ll file organizational campaign documents with the state this week.

Robin’s television news career started in 1974 with a news internship as part of her studies at Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.

Later while at KMOV, she went on to earn an Executive Master’s Degree in International Business from St. Louis University’s School of Business and Administration.

Additionally, she served on St. Louis University’s Board of Trustees.

Robin’s leadership roles with numerous local charities and organizations has well prepared her to continue her work making a difference for Missouri’s families.

Smith is looking forward to traveling to every corner of the state to earn the trust of Missouri voters, sometimes assisted in campaigning by her husband.

She is married to Isaac “Bud” Stallworth, a former All-American basketball standout and Academic All-American at the University of Kansas.

He went on to play in the NBA for both the Seattle Supersonics and the New Orleans Jazz.

After playing basketball, Stallworth went on to direct and manage construction projects for the University of Kansas, which included assistance in helping supervise the building of the KU Medical Center in Kansas City.
