Kander Tours Southwest Missouri Agribusinesses

Jefferson City, Mo. — Secretary of State Jason Kander continued his statewide tour of Missouri agribusinesses today with stops in Purdy, Lamar and Adrian.

“Missouri’s thriving agricultural industry is the backbone of our state’s economy,” Kander said. “We should do everything we can to support our family farmers and ranchers, which is why I have proposed legislation to reduce red tape and fees for family farms. I’ll keep working to find ways to help Missourians involved in the agriculture industry succeed.”

As part of his tour, Kander visited the Edgewood Dairy and Creamery in Purdy, Mo. The dairy farm has recently opened its new creamery and was the recipient of the 2012 Dairy Farmers of America Member of Distinction award. He also attended the 72nd Annual Lamar Free Fair. Afterwards, Kander visited Heritage Tractor, a John Deere dealer in Adrian.

Last December, Kander offered a bipartisan legislative proposal to make family farm corporations exempt from unnecessary paperwork and fees. Kander previously made stops in Rolla and Lebanon on his statewide tour.
