DED releases August 2015 Jobs Report

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri’s unemployment rate for August fell by two-tenths of a point to 5.6 percent, according to seasonally adjusted data released today by the Missouri Department of Economic Development. From July to August, the state’s nonfarm payroll employment decreased by 400 jobs.

Although there was little net change in payroll employment in August, there was significant job growth in certain industries. Employment in trade, transportation & utilities saw job growth of 3,500 over the month. Health care & social assistance employment was up by 2,000 jobs while nondurable goods manufacturing added 1,100 jobs. Employment in administrative, support & waste management services gained 1,000 jobs in August.
