Senate leader announces appointments to the Study Commission on State Tax Policy

JEFFERSON CITY— Senate Leader Ron Richard, R-Joplin, announced today two members who will join the Study Commission on State Tax Policy. The appointees will work with members of the Joint Committee on Tax Policy to examine Missouri’s tax system, identify its strengths and weaknesses, and find ways to simplify the state’s tax law. The study was made possible by the passage of House Bill 384 this past session. Sen. Richard said this study commission will help the Legislature reform the tax code to better serve businesses and citizens in the Show-Me State.

“No one has thoroughly examined or done an overhaul on our tax code in nearly 40 years,” said Richard. “This Tax Study Commission will help us modernize our system and allow Missouri to grow the economy and foster job creation.”

Study Commission Appointees:
Daniel J. White – Director, State and Local Taxes, H&R Block
Mary Mannix-Decker – Director of Finance, City of Springfield

The commission will provide recommendations for improvement to the Legislature and the governor by Dec. 31, 2017.
