Students from Belair Elementary to help Governor, First Lady decorate Capitol Christmas tree on Tuesday

JEFFERSON CITY – At 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday (Dec. 8), first-grade students from Belair Elementary in Jefferson City will help Gov. Jay Nixon and First Lady Georganne Nixon decorate the Capitol Christmas tree. The Christmas tree, located on the second floor of the Capitol outside the Governor’s Office, is being provided by Domien Meert Jr. and Eileen Meert of Meert Tree Farm, in Festus.

A gubernatorial proclamation declaring December as Christmas Tree Month in Missouri will be presented to Butch Augspurg, president of the Missouri Christmas Tree Association. Augspurg will present the First Lady with a Christmas wreath, also being provided by Meert Tree Farm.
