State Rep. Jered Taylor Files Legislation to Make Firearms More Affordable for Law-Abiding Missouri Citizens

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – State Rep. Jered Taylor hopes to make firearms more affordable for Missouri citizens. He recently sponsored legislation to create a sales tax holiday for new firearms purchases.

Taylor’s bill, HB 1901, would put the holiday into effect the first Saturday after July 4 for new firearms purchases. The bill would allow law-abiding citizens to purchase new firearms tax free.

“I think it is imperative that every citizen, if they choose and are eligible, is prepared to defend themselves and their families if the need arises. Purchasing a firearm is expensive and I am trying to help ensure that it is more affordable to everyone who wants to purchase a firearm,” said Taylor, R-Nixa.

Jered Taylor recently filed four other pieces of legislation for the 2016 session. These priorities include “Campus Carry,” “Freedom to Work Act,” “Prevention of Abuse of an Unborn Child,” and “Products Sold in the State Capitol.”

The 2016 legislative session begins Wednesday, January 6.  For any questions, please contact Rep. Taylor’s office at 573-751-3833.
