ST. LOUIS, Mo – Secretary of State candidate Jay Ashcroft, R-St. Louis, today, issued the following statement regarding President Obama’a supreme court nomination:
“Judge Merrick Garland would be a reliable vote for Obama’s lawless actions on the Supreme Court,” Ashcroft said. “He has repeatedly sided with anti-gun groups over the rights of Americans and put the bureaucracy and their job-killing rules above the interests of American small businesses. Vice President Biden, Senator Reid, and Senator Schumer have all previously rejected SCOTUS nominations during a presidential year, and this is no different.”
“This is no place for the president to be playing political games. I believe the American people should be given a voice in this process and his nomination should be rejected until a new President is elected.” Ashcroft continued.
