Release: Missouri Democratic Party Response to Springfield Debate

Jefferson City, MO – Tonight, the Republican gubernatorial candidates showed off their ability to filibuster answers while avoiding any actual solutions to the problems Missouri is facing.

They ignored the facts on education funding as their fellow party members in the legislature cut $456 million, breaking their promise to Missouri’s students. They continued to steadfastly refuse the $2 billion owed to Missourians and the potential for 40,000 jobs Medicaid expansion could bring. And they couldn’t offer a solution to sustainably fund maintenance and improvements to our bridges and roads.

“The Republican candidates tonight made it clear they are all hat and no cattle,” said Missouri Democratic Spokesman David Turner. “Each recited tired talking points and ideas proven as failures. The only thing clear from their answers tonight is that Missourians will be choosing a Democrat in November.”
