TWMP: Koenig and Eigel, Kander, and the state treasurer’s race

On Sunday’s episode of This Week in Missouri Politics, host Scott Faughn is joined by two victorious Republican primary winners: Rep. Andrew Koenig and small businessman Bill Eigel. The two discuss their wins over former Rep. Rick Stream and Rep. Anne Zerr, respectively, and what they plan to do when they likely get sworn into the Missouri Senate. They also speak about the key issues facing the Senate in 2017, like transportation infrastructure funding ethics reform, and how to solve those problems without raising taxes. They also discuss Eric Greitens’ nomination.

On the opinion maker panel, Faughn welcomes the state’s two college party leaders – Jake Buxton of the College Republicans and Jimmy Loomis of the College Democrats, and Gregg Keller from Atlas Strategy Group and Jeff Mazur from LaunchCode to talk about the close race for U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt’s seat being challenged by Secretary of State Jason Kander. They go over the state treasurer’s race between Judy Baker and Sen. Eric Schmitt, and the campus concealed carry fight and how it relates to the gubernatorial race.

Both of the segments go into overtime with Koenig and Eigel discussing their fantasy football picks and their support for Greitens. The opinion maker panel features ways to get involved with the College Democrats and Republicans as well as their opinions on other down ballot races.

TWMP will air at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Louis area on ABC 30 KDNL and in mid-Missouri on KRCG at 6:00 a.m. The show is available online at 11:00 a.m. at twmp.tv.
