I look forward to working with this important coalition to ensure the concerns of our veterans are addressed and their service to our state and county is honored.”
Sen. Schmitt has championed many pro-veteran policies during his time in the State Senate. He supported legislation authorizing the State Treasurer to make specified information available to the public to help identify and return military medals in the possession of the office to veterans or beneficiaries (HB 702, 2013); helped military children further their higher education (HB 247, 2009); supported designating Missouri as a “Purple Heart State” and removing obstacles to obtaining subsequent sets of Purple Heart license plates (HB 403, 2015); assisted veterans and current military members with substance abuse issues (SB 118, 2013); and helped advance veteran-owned small businesses (HB 1524, 2010).
