Release: Rep. Courtney Allen Curtis Encourages Presidential Nominees to Visit Ferguson during Trip to Washington University

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Upon hearing that Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump would be visiting Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, State Representative Courtney Curtis would like to extend an open invitation for both to visit Ferguson, Missouri. Representative Curtis believes that it is essential for potential leaders of the free world to visit Ferguson, and other places that prompted a nationwide dialogue about race and social injustice in our country.

“We are one month past the two year anniversary of the Ferguson unrest, and social justice is still at the forefront of my district’s mind. Ferguson was an important turning point for this country, because it helped ignite conversations about race, and incited real action and change. As Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump come to Washington University to participate in the presidential debates, I would invite them to travel to Ferguson, Missouri, and learn more about the real issues plaguing our country today. As potential leaders of America that are committed to representing all Americans alike, I would hope to see them make this visit a priority”, said Rep. Curtis, D-Ferguson.

Washington University in St. Louis will host the second presidential debate on Sunday, October 9th.
