JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Lieutenant Governor Mike Parson has commended the Missouri Senate and House of Representatives on their swift passage of a right-to-work law. The Senate passed the legislation January 26 on a vote of 21-12 while the House passed the final bill 100-59 on Thursday. The bill is expected to be signed by Governor Greitens.
“I am proud of my colleagues for moving quickly on this important issue,” said Lieutenant Governor Parson. “Having supported right-to-work during my time in the senate only to have those efforts fail, I am honored to have had the opportunity to preside over the senate during the debate and passage of this historic legislation,” Parson said.
“While I am pleased to see this bill become law, we cannot forget the many former legislators and supporters of this legislation who worked on this issue for years,” Parson continued. “I congratulate Senator Dan Brown and Representative Holly Rehder on their handling of right-to-work this session, and the many others before them who worked to end forced unionization in Missouri,” said Lieutenant Governor Parson.
Parson was sworn in as Missouri’s 47th lieutenant governor on January 9th. The lieutenant governor is the second highest constitutional office in Missouri, with executive and legislative responsibilities.
