KIRBY NAMED MISSOURI CORN GROWERS ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.)—Kyle Kirby of Liberal, Mo., assumed the role of Missouri Corn Growers Associationpresident effective Oct. 1. Elected during the organization’s August board meeting, Kirby succeeded Gary Porter of Mercer, Mo.

Kirby previously served the state’s growers as Missouri Corn Merchandising Council chairman, vice chairman, secretary and treasurer as well as MCGA vice president and secretary/treasurer. Kirby has also represented corn farmers nationally, serving on the National Corn Growers Association Feed, Food and Industrial Action Team.

“I hope to serve corn growers as well as my predecessor Gary Porter and look forward to his leadership on the National Corn Board,” Kirby said. “We have a strong board and experienced staff. While our organization has been successful in the past, there is still a lot of work to be done. We need to continue strengthening trade policy and increasing trade opportunities. We need to continue working to protect the Renewable Fuel Standard and building ethanol demand. We need to make sure our elected officials understand the current landscape. With a large crop and low corn prices, every market is valuable.”

MCGA is a grassroots organization of more than 2,200 members committed to increasing the profitability of corn production through sound policies, continued market development and strong involvement in the political process. To learn more, visit www.mocorn.org.
