Dan O’Neill announces campaign for District 21 State Representative

Democrat Dan O’Neill launches bid to replace term-limited Ira Anders

INDEPENDENCE, MO – Dan O’Neill, lifelong Truman Democrat, announced on Wednesday that he will be running for State Representative in District 21. The district, currently held by term-limited Democrat Ira Anders, is based in eastern Jackson County, encompassing most of north and eastern Independence.

O’Neill, a Missouri Realtor and former U.S. Air Force veteran, grew up in the district, attending William Chrisman High School and later studying at Central Missouri State University. He started his real estate business in Independence in 2003, and has since been involved in politics as an advocate for homeowners and taxpayers.

“I’m running because I want to see Missouri become a great place to raise a family again,” O’Neill said. “I will fight for hard-working families by supporting our unions. I will fight to keep protections in place against workplace discrimination. I will fight to keep our public schools funded and ensure that more benefits aren’t taken away from our elderly.”

As a real estate broker, Dan O’Neill works with families all over the district, helping them to call eastern Jackson County their home. O’Neill has also worked closely with the local Chamber and other area businesses as a member of the Economic Development Council and former member of the Jackson County Board of Equalization.

“I have the leadership experience and the will to make a difference. There are many areas in state government that need to be watched, but I believe the important ones are quality schools, control of taxes, support for working families, economic development, and protection of real property rights.”

O’Neill is an active member of his local community and a member of the Independence Chamber of Commerce, Post 21 American Legion, Economic Development Council of Independence, Whiteman Air Force Base Community Development Council, Board of Directors of the Missouri Association of Realtors, as well as a committeeperson for the National Association of Realtors.

After a successful event at the end of September, Dan O’Neill’s campaign committee will show over $16,000 total raised with $12,500 in the bank on his October Quarterly report with the Missouri Ethics Commission.

O’Neill has retained TJP Strategies to consult with his campaign.
