The Hot List – Sept. 26

United for Missouri’s new scorecard system is HOT

In case you missed it, United for Missouri released a new legislative scorecard system based off of a handful of votes that reflect the priorities of the group. The scorecards are available at www.unitedformissouri.org/statewide/97th-general-assembly-regular. The scores were based off of the following votes for the Senate, but check out the scorecard link above to see the standards for the House.

  • – A “no” vote on HB 11/SA 1 dealing with Medicaid expansion
  • – A “yes” vote on HB 34 dealing with “prevailing wage”
  • – A “yes” vote on HB 253, the much-discussed tax cut bill
  • – A “yes” vote on SB 1, the worker’s compensation bill
  • – A “no” vote on SB 10 implementing sporting event tax credits
  • – A “yes” vote on SB 29, “paycheck protection”
  • – A “no” vote on SB 120 dealing with tax credit reform
  • – A “yes” vote on SB 252 dealing with the Department of Revenue document scanning

TrakBill is HOT

TrakBill, based in St. Louis, is similar to organizations like GovWatch in that they seek to be a database for bills in the legislature so people can track actions taken. The difference is that progressively, this company is going nation-wide. They’ve brought on several states so far and recent released a free app for iPhones — indicating later on they will do the same for Android — that allows people to track bills from their phones. You can track five as a non-paying customer, but after that it costs. Give it a shot, it’s pretty interesting.

Camaraderie is HOT

In the Senate, you’ve got leadership working with Rep. Doug Funderburk to create a new gun bill they too can get behind, and then in the House you’ve got the 15 Republican members working on a new tax bill. There’s little that can be done about veto session, other than move forward.
