Press Release: Majority Floor Leader John J. Diehl, Jr. Receives Friend of Corn Growers Award

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – For his efforts to support Missouri’s corn growers, Majority Floor Leader John J. Diehl, Jr. recently received the Friend of Corn Growers Award. Diehl received the award from the Missouri Corn Growers Association (MCGA) during the group’s annual meeting at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Diehl received the award based on the instrumental role he played in promoting the success of co089 John J Diehl Jr (R)rn growers and the MCGA. During the 2013 legislative session, Diehl helped secure passage of a proposed constitutional amendment to protect the right to farm. He also worked together with his colleagues in the House and Senate to push back against federal regulations that would have limited the ability of young people to work on the family farm.

“This is an enormous honor and an award I take great pride in receiving,” said Diehl, R-Town and Country. “Our corn growers play a vital role in continuing the proud agricultural traditions that have made this the great state it is today, and they have been instrumental in supporting our economy with billions of dollars in sales each year. It has been a privilege to work with them on policy changes that will allow our agriculture industry to continue to thrive both now and in the future. I look forward to continuing our work together in the years to come.”

The Missouri Corn Growers Association is a membership organization of farmers dedicated to growing and defending the corn industry. MCGA works in the best interest of farmers on key agricultural issues and fights for pro-agriculture, pro-corn legislation.
