Press Release: McCaskill to Host Public Roundtable in Advance of Hearing on Whistleblower Retaliation Today

WASHINGTON – Continuing her work to protect whistleblowers and strengthen accountability across federal agencies, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill will host a roundtable with whistleblowers who were fired after raising safety concerns at the Hanford nuclear site. The roundtable will be open to the public and media and immediately followed by a formal hearing on whistleblower retaliation.

McCaskill’s roundtable discussion with whistleblowers will begin this morning at 10:15 am ET.

McCaskill’s hearing on whistleblower retaliation will begin immediately following, at 11:00 am ET. The hearing will be streamed online HERE.

Today’s roundtable will be an opportunity for Senator McCaskill to hear directly from whistleblowers—who were fired after raising concerns about nuclear safety at the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant in Hanford, Washington. At the hearing McCaskill will examine whistleblower retaliation and the roles and responsibilities of the Department of Energy and its contractors regarding whistleblowers who raise safety concerns.
