Press Release: StudentsFirst Missouri Urges Governor Nixon to Approve SB 493

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo-  Today, the House voted to send Senate Bill 493 to Governor Nixon in a bipartisan vote of 89-66 Senate Bill 493 would allow students in unaccredited schools to attend a better school in their home district—giving them immediate access to a high-quality education closer to home.
“This year, Missourians demanded a fix to the student transfer issue and legislative leaders in Jefferson City responded in a powerful bipartisan voice. Today’s vote means students in unaccredited districts have the opportunity to receive a better education close to home,” said Kit Crancer, State Director for StudentsFirst Missouri. “I thank our legislative leaders for their hard work and dedication to this important issue. On behalf of Missouri’s students and the members of StudentsFirst Missouri, I urge Governor Nixon to approve SB 493.”
