Press Release: Auditor Schweich Calls for Continued Support of Right to Farm

Auditor Schweich Calls for Continued Support of Right to Farm

Auditor Schweich will be holding a press conference at the William H. Darr School of Agriculture in Springfield, Missouri on July, 26th at 3:30pm to encourage Missouri voters to continue their support for Amendment 1.

On June 30th Auditor Schweich endorsed the Right to Farm amendment that will be on the August 5th ballot.  The broad-based and bipartisan support for this amendment shows its importance to Missourians.  Outside groups are attempting to confuse voters by spreading deception on the amendment’s purpose and intent.

“Having heard the misinformation coming from anti-agriculture organizations on the intent of Right to Farm I am calling on all Missouri voters to support this cause.  Missouri farmers need the guarantee that their livelihood is not put in jeopardy based on outside groups like HSUS who want to regulate agriculture out of existence.

“The Right to Farm amendment gives the necessary constitutional protection to Missouri farmers and ranchers to ensure they will have the needed tools to fight back against future laws that could negatively affect their ability to farm.

“During my first term in office I worked closely with Missouri Farm Bureau and other agriculture groups on issues important to the both of us.  In 2013 we were successful in passing HB 117 which brought needed changes to the initiative petition process.  This was a top legislative priority for Missouri Farm Bureau and I was thrilled to work with them to accomplish this effort.  I look forward to continuing this relationship and supporting Missouri Farm Bureau and the Right to Farm,” Schweich said in a statement.
