Kander Announces Voter Turnout for Primary Election
Jefferson City, Mo. — Secretary of State Jason Kander today announced the unofficial voter turnout in yesterday’s primary election was 24.58 percent. Approximately 998,495 of Missouri’s 4,061,820 registered voters turned out to vote on constitutional amendments and nominate party candidates.
“I want to thank the local election authorities and poll workers for all of their hard work in the days leading up to the primary and, especially, on Election Day itself,” Kander said. “Every election has important issues at stake, and this one was no different. I applaud all the Missourians who made it to the polls to participate in our democracy and make their voice heard.”
The three counties with the highest turnout were Knox (45.80%), Worth (44.33%) and Harrison (43.18%). Statewide, voter participation was highest in the contest over Constitutional Amendment 7.
Voters in House Districts 67, 120 and 151 also participated in special elections to fill vacancies for the office of state representative. Unofficial results show Alan Green (D–Florissant), Shawn Sisco (R–Rolla) and Tila Rowland Hubrecht (R–Dexter) winning the races, respectively. They will serve until January, when the winners of the November general election are sworn in.
According to state law, results will be certified by August 26.
