Senate Interim Committee on Tax Administration Practices to Meet in Springfield
“It has been many years since an in-depth look has been taken at Missouri’s tax policy administration,” said Sen. Kraus. “Since then, various court cases, rulings and changes in policy have created a situation where tax law is becoming unclear or misinterpreted.” The committee was formed to investigate the processes and policies used by the Missouri Department of Revenue (DOR) to interpret, enact and enforce tax statutes and uncover potential conflicts or inconsistencies in the administration of tax law. The interim committee expects to hear from local business owners, certified public accountants and other industry experts about their experiences working with DOR, which administers tax policy. “Too many times, DOR has changed the playing field for businesses, often without any notification,” said Sen. Kraus. “We would like to hear from accountants and business owners in and around Springfield who have experienced issues with the Department of Revenue.” The committee has one more meeting scheduled soon in Jefferson City. Details will be announced soon. Senate Interim Committee on Tax Administration Practices Who: Sen. Will Kraus and members of the committee What: To discuss varying tax policies with local businesses When: Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 1:00 p.m. Where: Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Bill Foster North Room 202 John Q Hammons Pkwy Springfield, MO 65806
