JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Richard AuBuchon has left Polsinelli, P.C. and started his own law firm. AuBuchon said Polsinelli is an amazing law firm, but he ultimately wanted to start his own practice.

“There comes a point in a career where you have to strike your own path,” AuBuchon said. “I’ve been blessed. It has been a good move.”

AuBuchon said that the practice is a great hybrid of law and lobbying. In his career, AuBuchon has served as counsel to the Missouri Chamber of Commerce, the Office of Administration, and Polsinelli. He also served as senior staff to Gov. Matt Blunt and chief of staff to Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder.

“It’s always what is best for the client,” he said. “One of the issues that I’ll be working on this next year is medical malpractice and punitive damage cases. It’s got some challenges. The end game for the clients and the insurance companies involve finding a solution that fits their market. It insures that doctors can practice in an environment that is beneficial to them, and at the same time, we want to protect the patients and make sure there is no disconnect between them. I’m really privileged to represent these folks.”

AuBuchon enjoys being closely involved in the legal litigation of the clients he provides government consultation for.

AuBuchon has been impressive in past legislative softball tournaments and literally knocks it out of the park during home run derbies. The important question for some is whether AuBuchon will be able to play in the tournament.

“You bet,” he said, adding that he may be considering free agency status.
