Senate Interim Committee on Tax Administration Practices Issues Report
JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Senate Interim Committee on Tax Administration Practices, chaired by Sen. Will Kraus, R-Lee’s Summit, met for the final time on Nov. 6 and approved the committee’s final report. The bipartisan report was signed unanimously.
“I appreciate the hard work put in over the interim by the members of the committee,” said Sen. Kraus. “After hearing from constituents and the Department of Revenue (DOR), we all agreed some basic reforms were needed.”
The interim committee met in four locations: Lee’s Summit, Bridgeton/St. Louis, Springfield and Jefferson City. A summary of the testimony from each meeting is available in the final report.
“The message we heard from small businesses was loud and clear. The Department of Revenue’s administrative policies are inconsistent, are not well communicated, and are harming Missouri’s businesses,” said Sen. Kraus. “The committee’s final report lays out some clear direction for solving these issues.”
The interim committee heard from DOR’s then-acting director at its meeting in Jefferson City.
“I am pleased that the department was willing to testify and answer questions,” said Sen. Kraus. “I have already reached out to the newly appointed director, and look forward to meeting with her as soon as possible to go over our report and look for ways we can improve future experiences for Missouri businesses.”
The full committee report is available on Sen. Kraus’ website at www.senate.mo.gov/Kraus.
