Senate Leader Names Senate Committee Chairmen

Committee Assignments Also Announced for the

2015 Legislative Session

JEFFERSON CITY— Senate Leader Tom Dempsey, R-St. Charles, announced today 15 Senate committees that will be tasked with holding public hearings and drafting legislation on issues important to Missourians. The committees will be in place for the First Regular Session of the 98th General Assembly that runs through 2016. As Senate Leader, Dempsey names all committees and appoints chairmen and members of the Majority Caucus to those committees.

 

Dempsey said the chairmen of each committee will act as leaders to find solutions to move Missouri forward in prudent, positive manner.

 

“The work done in committees is no small undertaking and carries many responsibilities,” said Dempsey. “With new challenges this year, I have no doubt we will be able to put our disagreements aside and have a successful legislative.”

 

Senate Committees and Chairmen are (in alphabetical order):

 

  1. Agriculture, Food Production and Outdoor Resources: Sen. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown
  2. Appropriations: Sen. Kurt Schaefer, R-Columbia
  3. Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and the Environment: Sen. Mike Kehoe, R-Jefferson City
  4. Education: Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg
  5. Financial and Government Organizations and Elections: Sen. Jay Wasson, R-Nixa
  6. General Laws and Pensions: Sen. Rob Schaaf, R-St. Joseph
  7. Governmental Accountability and Fiscal Oversight: Sen. Mike Cunningham, R-Rogersville
  8. Jobs, Economic Development and Local Government: Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Glendale
  9. Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence: Sen. Bob Dixon, R-Springfield
  10. Progress and Development: Sen. Joe Keaveny, D-St. Louis
  11. Seniors, Families and Children: Sen. David Sater, R-Cassville
  12. Small Business, Insurance and Industry: Sen. Mike Parson, R-Bolivar
  13. Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety: Sen. Doug Libla, R-Poplar Bluff
  14. Veterans’ Affairs and Health: Sen. Dan Brown, R-Rolla
  15. Ways and Means: Sen. Will Kraus, R-Lee’s Summit
