#BarklageCup 2015 Round 3 Results

Bandwidth by the Barrel

(1) Rosenbaum 52% vs. (13) Charton 48% – This is where the Cinderella story ends for Charton, who has likely raised more money for the Epilepsy Foundation than anyone else in the tourney and made a hell of a run. He has definitely secured a top seed looking ahead to the 2016 tourney.

(2) Yokley 46% vs. (11) Grace 54% – The lobbyist extraordinaire pulled off a slick move by securing naming rights to a menu item at Cork if he wins and that has begun a phenomenon. We just hope Eli will remember his sweet 16 appearance fondly in a year when he is in the big time.

(1) Dueker 49.6% vs. (12) Shackelford 50.4% – UPSET!!! The reigning champion was dethroned. TWMP appearance wasn’t enough to stave off elimination by Shackelford. Jane was a gracious champion and we thank her for her benevolence during her year with the cup.

(7) Kelly 56% vs. (11) Harris 44% – An Internet dogfight between a man who is a communications pro and someone who needs help with hashtags was close, but Kelly moves on. Leaves us thinking he may be a slow playing us and is a social media wizard and the rest is all for show.

(1) Mayor Slay 55% vs. (4) Diehl 45% – In the battle of St. Louis the Mayor moves on past the Speaker. Good for the Mayor, he already got local control through before this one. However, we hope they can still be friends after this and save the Rams.

(3) Schmitt 52% vs. (15) Cornejo 48% – Two north county boys fought a battle with a crazed look in their eyes as though they had been spent their childhood drinking water from near the Bridgeton landfill and at the end of the weekend the Senator squeaked by for a narrow win.

MissourAH

(1) Kinder 41% vs. (5) Rowden 59% – So maybe Rowden is a communications guru after all. The win over the Lt. Governor continues his impressive #barklagecup resume. However, the last minute picture with the Clydesdales on opening day in Missouri was a nice move, it just wasn’t enough to sway the voters.

(7) Haahr 43% vs. (14) Dieckhaus 57% – Dieckhaus comes out ahead in this one that garnered the most votes of any contest. Will he be able to keep up his momentum in the MissourAH bracket against another caucus member in Rowden?

Next Round: Elite 8

(1) Rosenbaum vs. (11) Grace – There is more than just a trip to the final four on the line here; there are menu-naming rights at Cork on the line. Rosenbaum will have to be on his A game for to overcome the newest powerhouse in Internet poll competitions for charity.

(7) Kelly vs. (12) Shackelford – With Shackelford riding high off of her win against the defending champion, will she suffer a let down against the gentleman from Boone? Word on the street is that the Kelley Group is coming to Jeff City this week to stump for votes. However, our growing suspicion that Kelly’s lack of social media skills is all an act would be confirmed by a final 4 appearance.

MissourEE

(1) Mayor Slay vs. (3) Schmitt — How about a little St. Louis throw down in the Elite 8. Will St. Louis’ longest serving mayor make all ‘Better Together’ under his leadership or will the Senator from Glendale make Munich on the Mississippi in the elite 8?

MissourAH

(5) Rowden vs. (14) Dieckhaus – A few short months ago they were friends and allies working side by side to build the largest republican majority in state history, now bitter enemies as they clash in the elite 8 of an Internet popularity contest. This is the most intriguing of all the elite 8 matchups and it’s every house staffer for themselves in this barn burner.
