PRESS RELEASE: MAYOR JAMES OF KANSAS CITY ENDORSES CONTRERAS FOR MISSOURI STATE TREASURER

KANSAS CITY, Mo., — With more than a year before Democrats go to the polls to select their next state Treasurer, Kansas City Mayor, Sly James is giving Pat Contreras his endorsement. Contreras, born and raised in Kansas City, announced his candidacy for the statewide row office just last month but is already building support from leaders within his party.

“Pat Contreras exemplifies the real world experience and energetic leadership we need in the state Treasurer’s office,” said Mayor James. “I am excited to endorse his candidacy. Pat is exactly who the Democrats need on the statewide ticket. He will be a great candidate and a great treasurer for us.”

Contreras, a former diplomat with the U.S. State Department and employee of the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City welcomed the support of Mayor James because of their shared commitment to community service.
“To truly lead you must be willing to engage directly with the community. That is why it is an honor to have Mayor James on our team,” said Contreras.  Whenever there is constituent with a concern or an issue at-large for Kansas City, Mayor James is there, working with and for everyone to make each and every neighborhood a better place to live. I look forward to benefiting from his trusted counsel and experience as the next treasurer of Missouri.”

Contreras went on to state that he will be working with Mayor James to find opportunities in their schedules to both campaign before as well as best provide services to the people of Kansas City.
