PSC APPROVES AMEREN TRANSMISSION COMPANY OF ILLINOIS REQUEST

JEFFERSON CITY—The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an application filed by Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI) granting ATXI a certificate of convenience and necessity to build, operate and maintain a 345,000-volt electric transmission line in Marion County and an associated switching station near Palmyra, Missouri.

According to the ATXI application, the proposed 345,000-volt electric transmission line is approximately seven miles in length and includes a new switching station.  The proposed line runs generally from the new switching station to be constructed near Palmyra, Missouri, through Marion County and extending across the Mississippi River to the Missouri state line.

On April 20, 2015, the PSC Staff filed its recommendation with the Commission, recommending the application be approved with conditions.  ATXI responded on April 24, 2015, accepting the PSC Staff’s conditions.

The Commission stated the five criteria that it will use to determine whether to grant a certificate of convenience and necessity to ATXI are: 1) There must be a need for the service; 2) The applicant must be qualified to provide the proposed service; 3) The applicant must have the financial ability to provide the service; 4) The applicant’s proposal must be economically feasible; and 5) The service must promote the public interest.

“Based on the verified application and the verified recommendation of Staff (PSC Staff), the Commission finds that granting ATXI’s application for a certificate of convenience and necessity to provide electrical service meet the above listed criteria.  The application will be granted,” said the Commission.
