— Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe was scheduled to be in St. Louis Thursday night for a fundraiser with one of the state’s leading Democratic activists.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Ladue home of Joyce Aboussie, a political consultant who has advised President Bill Clinton, Dick Gephart, and most recently, U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill.

McAuliffe, the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is challenging Virginia’s Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli in the election later this year.

Thursday night’s event is another in a series of out-of-state fundraisers for McAuliffe. So far, McAuliffe has held fundraisers in New York, Chicago, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hollywood, Houston, Miami, Rhode Island, and Washington, D.C., the Washington Post reported.

Many of the fundraisers, the paper reported, were organized by people close to Bill and Hillary Clinton, much like the Missouri fundraiser. Aboussie — a powerful fundraiser and activist — was a major player in Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, and that role could be renewed if Clinton pursues the office again in 2016.
