Mark Milton Launches Candidacy for State Representative in Missouri’s 90th Legislative District

GLENDALE, MO – Mark Milton today announced his candidacy to serve the people of Missouri’s 90th Legislative District as their next state representative.  Milton, a Republican, said he is dedicated to maintaining a strong public school system, reducing the excessive tax and regulatory burdens facing families and small businesses, and ensuring local police have the support they need from elected officials to keep themselves and their communities safe.

“I am excited about the opportunity to serve and represent the people of our area in the Missouri legislature,” Milton said.  “I am committed to working with leaders from all political persuasions and from all parts of the region to create more economic opportunities for all who seek them.  Together, we will help make Missouri the best place to live, work and raise a family.

For months, Milton has been receiving encouragement to run for state representative from people across the district including area leaders such as State Senator Eric Schmitt and former State Representative Rick Stream, both of whom endorsed his candidacy today.

“Mark is exactly the type of person we need in the Missouri legislature – young, energetic, and smart. Mark’s enthusiasm for and dedication to public service will benefit all Missourians, particularly those living in District 90,” said State Senator Eric Schmitt (R-Glendale). “With his white collar law enforcement background, Mark has the experience and proven leadership skills we need in Jefferson City to eliminate government fraud, waste and abuse,” said Senator Schmitt.

Since 2014, Milton has worked in the Government Compliance, Investigations, and Litigation team at the law firm of Husch Blackwell LLP, where he focuses on helping clients resolve tax disputes with the IRS and Missouri Department of Revenue and conducting corporate internal investigations in response to allegations of fraud or wrongdoing.

For four years, Milton served as an attorney with the Department of Justice (DOJ), Tax Division, in Washington, DC, where he received the DOJ’s prestigious Outstanding Trial Attorney Award in 2013.  He also served as president of the Missouri State Society, a non-profit, non-partisan group dedicated to fostering camaraderie among Missourians who live and work in the nation’s capital.

Milton earned his law degree from St. Louis University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

He lives with his wife Annemarie and their newborn son, Frederick, in the city of Glendale, a suburb of St. Louis.
