Brunner drops new video: ‘We’re going to win an election’

St. Louis — Businessman and former United States senate candidate John Brunner all-but-announced his candidacy for governor of Missouri in 2016 today with a new video on his website that promises the formal beginning of his campaign sometime this fall.

Brunner released a new video today which featured many of the expected tropes of a campaign video: interwoven clips of the candidate visiting schools, seniors, offices, manufacturing plants, and more. The shots are laced with clips of Brunner speaking before an audience.

“The only way to change the things we need to change is for citizens like yourselves, and all of us, to get involved as all of you have been involved for so many years,” Brunner says. “We do need some good jobs. And we gotta have our local communities taking back charge of their schools. And we have to get our roads fixed. We’re talking about the problems and running out of money…no long-term planning.”

Brunner has long been rumored to be prepping for a run for governor as a Republican in 2016 after he failed to win the Republican nomination for senate in 2012. A wealthy former CEO, Brunner brings private-sector expertise to a Republican primary almost exclusively filled with sitting or former elected officials. He also has money of his own to spend on a race that will, at least in part, be determined by how fundraisers are wrangled by competing campaigns.

Brunner’s video ends with the message: The Mission for Missouri beings this Fall.
