Missouri Times says farewell to Collin Reischmann

ST. LOUIS – Collin Reischman, managing editor of The Missouri Times, announced Friday that he will leave the publication to become the communications director for the United Food and Commercial Workers (UCFW) Local 655. That local represents workers in Eastern and parts of Central Missouri.

Reischman has spent the last two years working for The Missouri Times, covering politics and government at the state level. He has recently reported on the aftermath of the Ferguson protests, the controversy surrounding the proposed stadium in St. Louis, and Uber’s efforts in the city, among other things, but he has decided to transition into advocacy work.

“The UFCW is part of a long and proud history of fighting for hard-working families,” Reischman said. “As Missouri increasingly becomes the focus of a campaign to hurt workers, their families and labor as a whole, it’s incredibly important to become part of that fight. I’m looking forward to working with Dave Cook and everyone at the UFCW team as we continue to do what’s best for hard-working families.”

Local President Dave Cook believes Reischman will be an exceptional addition to their team.

“We’re always striving to enhance our ability to communicate with our members and with the general public about the value of labor,” he said in a statement. “We’re very excited to  bring someone like Collin on who has such a high level of ability. We are very much looking forward to working with him and excited about what the future holds.”

“I want to thank the publisher of The Missouri Times, Scott Faughn, who has been a wonderful boss and an even better friend,” Reischman said. “I’m grateful for all he’s done for me and the opportunities he’s helped open. Scott is one of the hardest working men I know and his political IQ is off-the-charts. At a time when newspapers continue to struggle, he’s hiring and employing journalists to do the terribly important work of covering politics and government, and he’s done it with great energy and sincerity. I have no doubt that he and everyone at The Missouri Times will continue to have incredible success.”
