State Treasurer Clint Zweifel releases investment guide as a free resource for public investment officers

Treasurer Zweifel continues his work to act as a resource for local governments and make his office more accessible to Missourians

JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) today announced the release of his Missouri Public Fund Investment Guide, a booklet available to county and municipal governments and any public investment officer in Missouri. The guide outlines investment policy for local governments according to the Missouri constitution and statutes, as well as offers insights into smart investing practices for public funds. The guide can be found on the Treasurer’s website, here.

“There are thousands of publically managed funds in Missouri, each one working to protect its constituents and remain accountable to taxpayers,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “As Missouri’s chief investment officer, I can act as an informational resource for other public finance officers across the state. I created this guide as a way to make the services of my office more accessible and transparent for all Missourians, including other governing bodies.”

The Investment Guide gives a detailed analysis on topics such as allowable investments, collateral for public funds and understanding risk. In addition to being available online, public finance officers may request the booklet from Treasurer Zweifel’s office. Anyone with questions about the guide should contact the Treasurer’s office at investmentguide@treasurer.mo.gov.
