Mark Milton Raises More Than $21,000 in First Two Months of Campaign for State Representative in District 90

GLENDALE, MO — Mark Milton, a Republican candidate for State Representative in Missouri’s 90th Legislative District, raised more than $21,000 during the first two months of his campaign, according to a report filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission today. The report shows Milton, a St. Louis University School of Law graduate and former U.S. Department of Justice trial attorney from Glendale, has already received campaign contributions from more than 120 supporters.

An impressive showing for a political newcomer with no prior campaign experience, Milton did not receive more than $1,000 from any single contributor. When asked about his early donor base, Milton said most of his contributions came from friends, family, and colleagues (current and former). “I think part of my appeal as a candidate for public office is that while I am steadfast in my conservative principles, I will work with people from all political persuasions to get things done,” said Milton. “Ultimately, I think that’s what most people want from their elected leaders.”

Milton has no known Republican opponents in the August 2016 primary. If Milton earns the Republican nomination, he will likely face incumbent Deb Lavender (D-Kirkwood) in the November 2016 general election. Milton has received early endorsements from Senator Eric Schmitt (R-Glendale) and former State Representative Rick Stream (R-Kirkwood), who defeated Lavender three times before she won the seat in November 2014 against a different opponent.
