–offers resources of the Attorney General’s Office to assist in the investigation and prosecution–

Jefferson City, Mo. – Attorney General Chris Koster today condemned the recent fires at six predominantly African-American churches in the St. Louis area.

The churches that have been victims of the fires in St. Louis City and North St. Louis County since October 8 are Bethel Nondenominational Church, New Northside Missionary Baptist Church, St. Augustine Catholic Church, New Testament Church of Christ, New Life Missionary Baptist Church and Ebenezer Lutheran Church.

Koster spoke earlier today to St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson and informed the chief that the Attorney General’s Office stands ready to provide any assistance that local authorities may request to help in the investigation and prosecution of the case.

“A house of worship should be a place of peace and refuge,” Koster said. “These targeted acts of arson strike at the heart of St. Louis by attacking its sanctuaries. The perpetrators must be found and brought to justice.”
