Gov. Nixon condemns church fires

Missouri State Highway Patrol ready to assist

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today condemned the recent series of church fires in North St. Louis City and County.

“These cowardly acts of violence against places of worship are deeply troubling,” said Gov. Nixon. “Houses of worship must be safe havens where people can come together in faith and fellowship – not the targets of hate and violence. The Missouri State Highway Patrol has been in contact with local and federal authorities and is ready to assist in the investigation of these crimes.”

In addition, the Governor said that the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory is prepared to expedite the testing of any relevant evidence.
