Rep. Dunn pre-files legislation on automatic voter registration

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – State Rep. Randy D. Dunn, D-Kansas City, has pre-filed legislation that would authorize eligible Missourians to automatically be registered to vote when they obtain or renew their driver’s license. The 2016 legislative session begins Jan. 6.

House Bill 1677 would require the Secretary of State’s Office to establish a system for automatic voter registration based on driver’s license information.

“Voter participation is essential to a functioning democracy,” Dunn said. “Establishing automatic voter registration for legally eligible Missourians is a simple and efficient way to encourage more citizens to exercise the franchise and become involved in their government.”
