Travel expenses ethics bill to be voted on by House Thursday

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A second bill of Rep. Caleb Rowden’s, R-Columbia, ethics reform legislation was perfected just a few minutes after his first. HB 1575 requires the reporting of expenses in the form of lodging and travel to the Missouri Ethics Commission within 30 days of the trip.

The debate period comprised of one series of questions asked by Rep. Mike Colona, D-St. Louis, and then he bill was announced perfected with no change to the introduced language.

The bill was one of four to be discussed on ethics today in the Capitol, and it provides an exception on a certain gift to an expected lobbyist gift ban bill that will enter the House next week. It also stipulates a $10 late fine per day for expenses not reported properly to the commission.
