Wallingford brings Veterans Energy Pipeline to Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A new program to help veterans move into the private sector will now be co-sponsored by one of Missouri’s elected officials.

State Sen. Wayne Wallingford, R-Cape Girardeau, is the state chair of the Missouri branch of Vets4Energy. A retired lt. colonel in the Air Force, Wallingford and this organization will now help former soldiers find jobs in the oil and natural gas industries.

Wallingford believes this will help people who sometimes struggle to find civilian jobs once they have moved away from military service.

“This tool will be a major asset to our veterans, who have honorably served our nation,” Wallingford said. “The technical and non-technical skills, such as teamwork, dedication, and leadership that our veterans gained through military service make them ideal candidates for positions in the oil and natural gas industry. I’m proud to be part of this effort to assist our men and women returning from military service to civilian life.”

The Veterans Energy Pipeline is underwritten by the American Petroleum Institute (API), and their president and CEO Jack Gerard says this will also help bolster the industry by providing more information about fossil fuel sources and attracting well-qualified employees.

“Our goal is to build on the successes of America’s energy revolution and help those serving our country, as well as veterans, transition into well-paying careers in the oil and gas industry,” he said. “This unique forum will provide important information about the industry, the outlook for job opportunities and useful job-hunting tools and resources.”

Wallingford joins leaders from 26 other states as a volunteer chairperson.
