Release: Jay Ashcroft Endorsed By Phyllis Schlafly

ST. LOUIS, Mo – Secretary of State candidate Jay Ashcroft, R-St. Louis, today, received the endorsement of conservative stalwart and Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly in his race for Missouri Secretary of State.

“Missouri desperately needs consistent conservative leaders who will fight to defend our values,” Schlafly said. “Liberals like Robin Carnahan and Jason Kander have used the Secretary of State’s office to silence conservative voices and tip elections in favor of their anti-faith, anti-family, and anti-freedom agenda. Jay Ashcroft has a lifetime of commitment to the conservative cause. He has proven time and again that he will not waver in his defense of the constitutional principles that have made our country great. I am proud to support and endorse Jay Ashcroft for Missouri Secretary of State because I know he will be a steadfast defender of our families, our faith, and our freedom.”

“I am honored to receive the support of conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly in my campaign for Missouri Secretary of State,” Ashcroft said. “We have watched for too long as liberals have used the office of Secretary of State to write misleading ballot language and fight against a common sense photo voter ID requirement. As Secretary of State, I will be a champion for fair elections and will fight tirelessly to ensure that our elections are protected from fraud.”

Ashcroft, who filed a constitutional amendment to allow for a photo voter ID law for Missouri in May, has been traveling the state and recently announced that he had visited all 114 counties.

Ashcroft lives in St. Louis along with his wife Katie and their four children. He is the son of Janet and former United States Attorney General John Ashcroft.
