JEFFERSON CITY—The Missouri Legislature has approved Senate Bill 844 a measure sponsored by Sen. Mike Parson, R-Bolivar, to shield responsible livestock owners from civil liability if their animals escape through no fault of the owner.
“A livestock owner can do everything right, but through no fault of their own, their animals can escape,” said Sen. Parson. “In the cases where an animal owner had no control over their livestock getting loose, they should not be held liable for the damages. It adds fairness into the law and protects responsible livestock owners.”
Senate Bill 844 is on the governor’s desk, awaiting approval.
